We just celebrated our King Jesus this past weekend, but I pray that the power of His resurrection isn’t just celebrated on a calendar date. The resurrection of Jesus Christ is a daily reality as believers to live resurrected with Him. So what does it look like to live resurrected?

As we approach Palm Sunday, Passion Week, Good Friday, and Resurrection Sunday, I wanted to write a quick piece on “The Two Simons;” as we read the Gospel accounts of Jesus’ crucifixion, two men named Simon appear at pivotal moments — Simon Peter and Simon of Cyrene. Their stories invite us to reflect on the ways we encounter the cross: unexpectedly, willingly, fearfully, or even triumphantly.

As I was reading chapter 7 in Luke this past week, something struck me in a way it never has before. In verse 20, we learn that John the Baptist sends his followers to ask Jesus if he is the “one who is to come or shall we look for another?” That struck me as interesting, as John the Baptist knew who Jesus was, they were related, likely separated by merely a few months. Why, then, knowing full well who Jesus was, would John doubt that Jesus was the Messiah?
